Wangfujing’s second Chongqing store, Wangfujing Department Store Shapingba, is scheduled to open in mid-January. For the shopping district, this is another department store to join; For Wangfujing itself, the meaning is more unusual: Chongqing is the only city in Beijing except for the opening of more than one Wangfujing department store. Prior to this, no matter whether it was a municipality directly under the Central Government or a provincial center of the country, there was only one Wangfujing Department Store in a city.

Reporter: The Wangfujing Diwang Store announced that it will soon be “with a double banquet” with the Shapingba Store in Wangfujing. Whether it is the industry or the consumer, now it is very interested in the situation of Wangfujing Second Store. Can you tell us our readers?

Guo Zhigang: The second store's product positioning, brand structure and a store more consistent and harmonious. Wangfujing Shapingba Store has strengthened its brand management and brand reputation in its original business strategy, and has set its goal to provide consumers with a tasteful urban shopping mall in Shapingba.

Reporter: What happened to Wangfujing’s “city chain” previously claimed by the media?

Guo Zhigang: Since Chongqing is the only city outside of Beijing to have a second store, Wangfujing Department Store can operate in the same city as the “city chain” of two store chains, that is, the two store operations are completed by a team. This means that the two stores in Wangfujing Department Store can share the resources of brands, suppliers and customers, and maintain the synchronization of the two stores, and customers can get more benefits and convenience.

Reporter: It is rumored that the timetable for Starbucks headquarters planning to enter Chongqing will originally be ranked two years later. Will Starbucks open business with the opening of Wangfujing new store at the same time?

Guo Zhigang: According to the schedule, Starbucks will open the door before our second store opens. As an international high-level chain company, Starbucks is very cautious about the choice of shop, and ultimately selected Wangfujing Department Store to jointly develop the market, but also fully affirmed Wangfujing Department Store. Christine Day, president of Starbucks Asia, said that Starbucks entered the Shapingba store in Wangfujing Department Store and hopes to achieve a real partnership between Wangfujing Department Store and Starbucks.

Reporter: Has the Wangfujing-Yanghuatang project jointly planned by Wangfujing Group and Ito Yokado in Beijing have recently been planned to advance to Chongqing?

Guo Zhigang: There is no plan for the development of cities outside Beijing in the near future. However, supermarkets at the Shapingba store in Wangfujing will fully introduce some management systems and distribution channels at Wangfujing Yangwoktang, and for the first time introduce fresh supermarkets in the Chongqing market. The main force will be featured in the categories of fruits and vegetables, aquatic products, cooked food and poultry, and on-site production. By then, it will provide the general public with the best quality and affordable fresh products.

Reporter: In addition to Jiefangbei and Shapingba, does Wangfujing have any plans to open stores in other downtown areas of Chongqing?

Guo Zhigang: Chongqing's unique geographical situation constitutes a relatively independent trade zone scale between the districts and districts. The commercial districts of each district have formed an industry structure and consumer groups with unique regional characteristics. As long as there are suitable projects, we will consider continuing to open stores in other major cities.
