"Fluorescent silk" is the result of reorganizing the genetics of silkworms so that the silk produced by them can emit green fluorescence. This kind of silk has been successfully developed for the first time in the world by the National Research and Development Corporation of Japan, and since 2015, the Agricultural Research Institute has invested in the production of fluorescent silk with the Gunma Silk Technology Center. in.

Since the first time that the GM silkworms cultivated by sericulture farmers in Gunma Prefecture have been shipped, about 170 kilograms of fluorescent silkworm cocoons have been sent to the Gunma Silk Technology Center.

The silkworm cocoon is 4 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. Under the illumination of the blue LED lamp, it can be seen through the yellow filter, and the silkworm cocoons can emit green fluorescence.

These silkworm cocoons will be sent to the Nishijin Weaving Workshop in Kyoto during the New Year, and will be used flexibly in interior decoration and stage performances.

Heben Xia Xiong, who is involved in the development of fluorescent silk in agricultural research institutions, said: "China and Brazil are the mainstream of silk production.
